For beginners and seasoned athletes REACTION CYCLING classes will help strengthen and tone both body and mind. Class format may be a "Training Ride" or may focus on one of five distinct "energy zones" - classes focused to train within a specific heart rate zone.

Heart rate monitors are highly recommended and available at the Fitness Formula Store.

Training Ride
Combines components of various energy zones; focus will vary by instructor.

Endurance
Emphasizes aerobic conditioning and efficiency through the use of steady and consistent energy expenditure. Conditions the body to go longer with less fatigue (65-75% of maximum heart rate).

Strength
Emphasizes development of muscular endurance and power through stimulated hill climbing while also strengthening cardiovascular potential (75-85% of maximum heart rate).

Interval
Alternating periods of challenging work with periods of recovery that may focus on aerobic and/or anaerobic development. Conditions the body to recover quickly and efficiently (65-92% of maximum heart rate)

Race Day
Simulations of actual bike races. Scheduled as a special event, this class challenges your limits and tests the effectiveness of your training program (80-92% of maximum heart rate).

Recovery
An essential component to any training program, this class emphasizes high resistance and easy riding in the saddle to speed recovery from more intense rides (50-65% of maximum heart rate).

Yoga
The ancient practice of bringing body, breath, and mind into balance. Class format is a unique fusion of traditional exercise with the ancient beauty and artistry of yoga postures. All fitness levels and ages can reap the benefits of flexibility and strength training. May include use of resistance apparatus and/or incorporate Hatha principles. Benefits include flexibility and strength training and increased mental focus.

Pilates Evolved MatSM
A combination of exercises based on the concepts developed by Joseph Pilates. Class format may include progressions of traditional Pilates exercises and may utilize small resistance apparatus such as the Foam Roller and Flex Ring. Benefits may include increased muscular definition and improvements in coordination, flexibility, and body awareness.
