If you exercise outdoors in the cold weather, you should be taking some of the same measures you do when preparing for (believe it or not) the beach!

  • Sunscreen. It may feel frigid, but the sun's still powerful enough to do damage to your skin. If you're doing snow sports, the sunlight reflecting off the snow can be enough to burn you!
  • Shades. With the sun lower in the sky, visibility can be more difficult -- especially if you're in the snow and dealing with sun glare.
  • Water bottle. You may not feel as though you're sweating. But you're working out, and that means your body needs more fluids.
