The Basics of a Squat
Here are the basics to performing a perfect squat:
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, toes pointed slightly outward. If you're using dumbbells, hold them at the outside of your thighs.
- Shift your bodyweight to your heels, not your toes.
- Bend your knees but do not allow them to bend to an angle less than 90 degrees. Keep your back straight and keep your weight in your heels.
- Slowly return to a standing position. Do two sets of 10 - 12 squats each.
