Feeling tense? This simple method can help relieve stress within minutes:

  1. Use a quiet place with no interruptions. Find a relaxing position -- sitting, lying down or even standing, whatever you find most comfortable.
  2. Close your eyes. Pay attention to your breathing. (No special breathing technique is required.)
  3. Mentally "scan" your body in search of tense muscles. Start with your toes and slowly progress upward through your legs, torso, arms and so on. Whenever you encounter tense muscles, stop and try to relax them. As you breathe, imagine yourself "exhaling" the stress from the tense area.
