Log Your Progress
Get and stay motivated by keeping food and workout logs. Here's how:
- Food Logs: If you're trying to change your eating habits, write down everything you eat throughout the day. You'll become acutely aware of your eating patterns - and that's the first step in improving them.
- Calorie intake: If weight loss is your goal, you need to know how many calories you're consuming AND how many you typically burn in a day. To monitor your calorie intake, use a pocket-sized calorie guide. Knowing your calorie output is a bit more complex; you may want to consult a qualified professional to assess your metabolism.
- Exercise log: If you want to get in better shape, make sure you're keeping a simple record of your workouts: the duration and intensity of cardio workouts, and the amount of weight and number of repetitions for strength training exercises. Over time, your exercise log will reveal improvements that you might not have noticed otherwise.
