Whether you've been running, walking -- or simply carrying on with your daily routine -- your feet can take a beating. A simple self-massage can de-stress your feet and help relax your entire body.
- Sit in a position that enables you to reach your feet comfortably. You'll want to massage one foot completely, and then the other. Note: If reaching for your feet causes any discomfort in your back, neck or other area, do not continue.
- TOP OF FOOT. Gently stroke the top of your foot, starting below the ankle and massaging down toward the toes.
- SOLE: Use both thumbs to massage the sole. Start at the area beneath the toes, with your thumbs together at the center. Using moderate pressure, pull your thumbs out toward the sides of the foot. Gradually work down toward the heel.
- TOES. Holding each toe between your thumb and forefinger, gently squeeze, pull and rotate the toe.
