Leaner Cuts of Beef
When shopping for lean beef, check labels for the words "round" or "loin," such as top round, eye of round or sirloin.
Leaner cuts of beef like these are actually very close in calories, fat and cholesterol to a skinless chicken breast. For example, a 3-ounce serving of eye of round has only about 4 grams of fat.
Another way to guard against buying fattier meats: Avoid cuts with a lot of "marbling," which is actually threads of fat throughout the meat.
