You've probably grilled items that go inside breads and rolls to make sandwiches. But have you tried grilling sandwiches in their entirety, bread and all? Grilling can give bread a texture and taste you can't get through any other cooking method.

As with almost anything you place on the grill, the outer sides of sandwiches should be lightly brushed with oil to prevent sticking. And, just as with cold sandwiches, you can make these meals more healthful by using whole-grain breads, avoiding high-calorie condiments like mayonnaise, and including plenty of vegetable toppings such as tomatoes.
